Get Disability back if your benefit ended

If your benefit ended due to work

If your Disability benefit ended because you returned to work and have been earning above the limits for too long, you might be able to restart it later if needed.

Within 5 years of your benefits ending

Call us and tell the representative you want to file for “expedited reinstatement” of your Disability benefit. You’ll answer a series of questions but won't need to file a new application. You might also get benefits for up to 6 months while we review your request.

Call +1 800-772-1213
Call TTY +1 800-325-0778 if you're deaf or hard of hearing.

After 5 years of your benefit ending

You’ll need to file a new application to get back on Disability.

If your benefit ended for any other reason

You’ll need to file a new application to get back on Disability.
