What's New?

12/17/07 - AccuWage and AccuW2C software for 2007 are designed to test current and prior year wage reports in the current EFW2 - EFW2C formats. Previous versions of the AccuWage and AccuW2C software have been removed from the AccuWage website.

10/01/07 - The AccuW2C 2007 software is now available to download.  We also added a new TY07 Help Guide for AccuW2C under the Quick Links section of our web pages. The help guide contains extensive information on viewing, testing, and correcting errors in the wage report correction file.

Windows 2000/XP users can access the same help guide from the menu bar in the upper left corner of any AccuW2C software screen. However, Windows Vista users cannot access the guide from within the AccuW2C software because Microsoft's Windows Help program is not a component of the new Vista operating system. Windows Vista users who want to download Microsoft's WinHlp32.exe to view the help guide within the AccuW2C software can use the link below:

Note: Beginning with AccuW2C 2007, we no longer provide support for any AccuW2C software downloaded to Windows NT or ME Operating Systems.

08/06/07 - The AccuWage 2007 software is now available to download.  We have added a new Troubleshooting page and the TY07 Help Guide for AccuWage under the Quick Links section of our web pages.

The Troubleshooting page contains guidance to help you through downloading problems. The help guide contains extensive information on viewing, testing, and correcting errors in the wage report file.

What is AccuWage/AccuW2C?

AccuWage/AccuW2C is free software from Social Security.

  • AccuWage is for use with Electronic Filing W-2 - EFW2 (formerly MMREF-1.)
  • AccuW2C is for use with Electronic Filing W-2c - EFW2C (formerly MMREF-2.)

The software allows you to check W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement) and W-2c (Corrected Wage and Tax Statement) reports for correctness before you send them to Social Security.

How does AccuWage/AccuW2C work?

First, you need to download and install AccuWage/AccuW2C software on your PC. Then, specify the directory where your W2REPORT or W2CREPORT file is located. AccuWage/AccuW2C reads the file and informs you of any errors it detects.

Software Policy

The AccuWage/AccuW2C software identifies most of the common format errors in wage submissions. Using this software greatly reduces submission rejections. Please be aware that even if no errors are identified by AccuWage/AccuW2C, your submission could be returned because of other errors.
