Upcoming Events Open to the Public

Representatives from the Social Security Administration will be at all upcoming events to
provide information and answer questions about Social Security programs.

my Social Security Sign Up Events

Just starting your career? Counting down the days to retirement? Already receiving benefits? Signing up for a my Social Security account is a great idea for anyone 18 years or older! Plan to attend one of our FREE Sign Up Events to register for your my Social Security account.

A representative from the Social Security Administration will be available to provide assistance with registering for your my Social Security account using the library’s computers, your personal computer, tablet or smart phone. These events are FREE and Open to the Public!

A my Social Security account will provide you access to your annually updated Social Security Statement if you are not receiving benefits. The statement is a great planning tool as it provides personalized Social Security benefit estimates, regardless of your age.

For those already receiving benefits, this account allows you to change your address, phone number, and direct deposit information. It also provides you instant access to a printable version of your benefit verification letter.

Congressman John Delaney’s Seniors’ Workshop

The purpose of this event is to provide seniors with information on various topics and issues affecting their daily lives including: Social Security, Medicare, recreational opportunities, transportation, health, and nutrition.

Congressman Delaney will be on hand to open the event with remarks and then each group will provide a 5-7 minute overview of their program and its resources available to seniors. This will be followed by a 15-20 minute question and answer session and then seniors will be free to visit the various resource tables for information and private discussions with program representatives.

The Social Security Administration will participate in the Diakon Living and Learning After 50 Expo. The expo will include seminars and booths tailored for baby boomers and aging adults.

The Social Security Administration will participate in the Berks Encore Senior Expo.  Last year, the Expo was a resounding success with more than 140 vendors and approximately 4000 people in attendance.

The Social Security Administration will participate in a Senior Expo hosted by Pennsylvania State Representative Dom Costa.  The Senior Expo will include a variety of booths geared toward senior citizens and their families or caregivers.  Attendees with have the opportunity to register for my Social Security accounts at the Social Security booth.

Congressman Sarbanes will deliver opening remarks.  Then representatives from the Social Security Administration and Maryland State Health Insurance Program will give presentations related to the services their agencies provide.  The primary topics that will be covered include eligibility requirements for Social Security and Medicare benefits as well as assistance that is available to defray Medicare expenses.  Afterwards agency representatives will engage in a question and answer session with audience members.  Constituent service representatives from Congressman Sarbanes’ office will be available afterwards for private consultations.

The Social Security Administration will participate in Project Homeless Connect 2015. Project Homeless connect serves homeless men, women and children throughout Dauphin County and the City of Harrisburg. Transportation to the event is provided and there will be flu shots, glucose, health and dental screenings, childcare, and pet care.

The Ticket to Work Program provides choices for people with disabilities receiving Social Security who want help returning to work. You can learn about the Ticket to Work Program or other Work Incentives at a FREE Work Incentive Seminar Event (WISE), held at a local organization in your community, or online.
