1608.What factors does SSA consider in selecting payees?

When deciding whether to select a person as payee, we consider the person’s:

1. Relationship to the beneficiary;

2. Concern for the beneficiary's well-being;

3. Ability to fulfill the duties of being a payee; and

4. Ability to know of and provide for the needs of the beneficiary.
