I-3-1-10.Initial Screening — General

When the Office of Appellate Operations receives a request for review, designated staff will initially screen the case for:

• Critical case processing (Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual I-3-1-5);

• Timeliness (HALLEX I-3-1-1);

• Hearing recording (HALLEX I-3-1-12);

• Requests for extensions of time (HALLEX I-3-1-14);

• Appointment of representative (HALLEX I-1-1-11);

• Benefit termination (HALLEX I-3-1-16);

• Requests for copies of exhibits or other claim(s) file material (HALLEX I-3-1-21); and

• Any other identified characteristic or measure requested by OAO management (as set forth in internal instructions).
