Quick Hints for Low Vision Visitors to Our Website

Making Text Larger

Many pages can be difficult to view because the text is too small to comfortably read.

Choose from the following web browsers for step-by-step instructions on how to increase the size of the text on any web page you are viewing:

Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 5 or 6
Firefox

Magnifying the screen

If enlarging the text on a web page is not enough to make the page easily readable, the next step is to magnify your screen.  Recent versions of Windows include magnification software, which will allow a user to increase text to a very large size.

The Windows magnifier is limited in its functionality, however, so most visually impaired users find that they need a more sophisticated magnification software program. Here, we have provided a list of such programs.

Changing background and text colors in your browser

Some website users have difficulty reading text on a web page because of the colors of the background and text, or because of the way those colors contrast with each other.

Choose from the following web browsers for step-by-step instructions on how to change the background and text colors on any web page you are viewing:

Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 5 or 6
Firefox
