Whether you’re moving next door or all the way across the country, reporting your new address to Social Security is the best way to make sure your benefits continue arriving on time.

Even if your benefits go to your bank through direct deposit, or you only receive Medicare benefits, Social Security still needs a current address to send you notices and other correspondence about important changes that could affect you.  And if Social Security is unable to contact you, your benefits could stop altogether until your information is updated.
