| Diverse Populations - Their Benefits and
Resources
Social Security Administration (SSA) Public Affairs Specialists
and management officials from Washington, DC partnered with the
District of Columbia, Office of Latino Affairs to sponsor the seminar, “Diverse
Populations - Their Benefits and Resources” at the Reeves
Municipal Center. Seminar attendees included representatives from
agencies that work with diverse populations.
Seminar participants learned how SSA is structured at the district
and office levels and how SSA work is assigned and completed in
the SSA Washington DC complex. They learned about SSA benefit programs
and how to access and use information provided at Social
Security Online. An explanation of the disability process and
actions social workers can take to assist their clients in submitting medical
records electronically was given as well as data on how using
this method results in faster determinations.
SSA
publications and online
services reminders were provided to the agency representatives
so that they could be displayed and shared with their clients.
