Diverse Populations - Their Benefits and Resources

Presentation by Public Affairs SpecialistSocial Security Administration (SSA) Public Affairs Specialists and management officials from Washington, DC partnered with the District of Columbia, Office of Latino Affairs to sponsor the seminar, “Diverse Populations - Their Benefits and Resources” at the Reeves Municipal Center. Seminar attendees included representatives from agencies that work with diverse populations.

Seminar participants learned how SSA is structured at the district and office levels and how SSA work is assigned and completed in the SSA Washington DC complex. They learned about SSA benefit programs and how to access and use information provided at Social Security Online. An explanation of the disability process and actions social workers can take to assist their clients in submitting medical records electronically was given as well as data on how using this method results in faster determinations.

SSA publications and online services reminders were provided to the agency representatives so that they could be displayed and shared with their clients.
