How to Change Your Address with Other Agencies

If you are receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), benefits or have applied to receive them, and you change your mailing address, you should follow our instructions for changing your address.

If you receive benefits from another agency, follow their instructions for changing your address. Following are some common agencies that you may also need to contact to change your address:

• United States Post Office (USPS) - Contact the USPS about your address change and complete USPS Form-3575. Visit your local post office or use their change of address service on the Web at MoversNet^TM.

• Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - The IRS will update its record when you file your next return. If you want to change the address before then, get the IRS Change of Address Form. If you cannot download the form, please call the IRS toll-free number 1-800-829-3676 and ask them to mail you Form 8822.

• U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) - Form 20-572, Request For Change Of Address/Cancellation Of Direct Deposit

• Office of Personnel Management (OPM) - If you are a federal retiree, you will need to report a change of address to the OPM.
