"How Social Security Has Made a Difference In My Life" Video Contest - Terms and Conditions

  • Entries must be submitted on YouTube as a video response to Social Security’s call for contest entries by Friday, August 27, 2010, 6:00pm EDT.  Videos submitted after this time will not be judged as part of the  the contest.

  • Entrants must complete the contest entry form and provide valid contact information by Friday, August 27, 2010, 6:00pm EDT.  Submitting a form after this time will result in disqualification.  On the entry form, ensure that you provide the unique video video YouTube URL for your video.

  • Your video must not infringe on any third party rights or contain any names, logos, or seals of any government agency, company, or organization.

  • Your video must be between 30 and 90 seconds in length.

  • Entries will be judged by a panel of representatives from the Social Security Administration on the basis of message and appropriateness, creativity, and sentimental/entertainment value.  See our judging criteria.  The Social Security Administration reserves the right to not select a winner if none of the entries are deemed of sufficient quality based on the criteria.

  • In order to be awarded the winning prize the winning contestant must provide all required release forms to the Social Security Administration within two weeks of notification of selection.  Winner can expect to be notified in September 2010. 

  • If you want to remove your video from the competition, you may do so by removing your video response prior to Friday, August 27, 2010, 6:00pm EDT.  We expect to announce the winner on Friday September 10, 2010.

  • If we deem your video entry inappropriate for any reason, we reserve the right to disassociate it from the video contest.

  • By entering the contest, you grant the Social Security Administration a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your video, in any media, for standard government-related and other non-commercial purposes.  You grant the Social Security Administration exclusive permission and authority to edit, modify, format, or adapt your video for its own purposes at the agency’s sole discretion. 

  • Your video may not contain any endorsement, solicitation, commercial, or similar content advocating for or against candidates for office, political issues, or commercial products.

  • You must be a citizen of the United States, Puerto Rico or the other U.S. territories or a legal resident of the United States.

  • Employees of the Social Security Administration and Social Security contractors are not eligible to enter the contest.

  • The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.  No purchase or payment of money is necessary to enter or win.

  • The agreement of a legal parent and/or guardian must be obtained if the entrant is under the age of 18. Entrants will be required to submit our permission form for minors as well as the online entry form.

  • Entrants must agree to the above terms and conditions.

  • SSA in no way represents an actual, implied, or inferred endorsement of YouTube.
