107-14 The President Signs H.R. 3338, the Department of Defense Appropriations Bill Which Eliminates Deemed Military Wage CreditsOn January 10, 2002, President Bush signed into law H.R. 3338 (Public Law 107-117), the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, FY 2002. The law includes the following provision of interest to SSA: Section 8134 of the bill eliminates deemed wage credits for members of the uniformed services (primarily military), as provided under section 229(a), for all years after calendar year 2001. Deemed wage credits will continue to be given for appropriate earnings for periods prior to calendar year 2002. |
