Student
Temporary Employment Program (STEP)
The experiences offered in this program are very flexible because the
work performed does not have to relate to the students academic or career goals.
To qualify for this program an individual must be:

Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a student

Seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc)
-
Taking at least 9 credit hours or its equivalent
in an:
- accredited high school
- technical or vocational school
- two-year or four-year college or university
- graduate or professional school

A U.S. citizen or U.S. national

At least 16 years old
- A student or the student of a family that qualifies for a Federal, State
or local public assistance program. (Students not meeting the financial
needs criteria may be considered when there are not many students who meet
the financial need requirement.
Student
Career Experience Program (SCEP)
This program provides work experience that directly relates to the college
student’s academic program and goals. Students
in SCEP may be converted without competition when they have finished school and
have satisfied the experience requirements.
To qualify for this program an individual must be:
- Enrolled full-time at an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university and in
good academic standing
- Pursuing a field of study related to the position in consideration
- A U.S. citizen or legally authorized to be employed in the U.S.
- There is no financial need requirement for this program
Student Volunteers
Student volunteers are provided educationally related work
assignments to supplement their education program. Normally, such work assignments would not exceed one semester (or
quarter). A written agreement is
developed jointly between the school and SSA, which outlines the
responsibilities of each organization. Students
are not paid for volunteer services.
College
We use this program to hire qualified and talented
individuals and to increase the representation of people with disabilities (Much
of the same qualifying criteria as STEP program – financial need is not a
requirement)
