"SSA provided me with opportunities to work in different components and to understand the Big Picture. I appreciate the opportunity to positively impact the scope of services provided to the foreign language-speaking public with cutting edge technology."

"Social Security Administration has been a great organization to work for. I enjoy the benefits and the people I work with, but most importantly, I’m passionate about improving our services to the public. As a Latina, I see my role especially important to the Spanish-speaking population, and I know that SSA is serious about reaching out to diverse groups of people. Mentorship was a crucial aspect of my PMF journey. It was nice to know that SSA pairs up their fellows with mentors who are GS-14 or above. The PMF program prepared me for the challenges of working in management, with the public, and with my colleagues.”

"I work with many needy Americans and I know I truly made a difference, each and every day. I feel so fortunate to have received the opportunity to work as a Fellow and build a career at Social Security (SSA). The PMF program is well-structured and designed with your success in mind. The coordinators ensure well-timed & excellent training, opportunities to network, a helpful Mentor, and an expectation for a high-quality IDP early in the program. As a fellow, I was able to manage projects and supervise people. The blend of project work on one detail and supervising 17 employees on another detail allowed me to develop the skills I need for success in the future."

“As a graduate student, I knew I wanted to work for an agency whose mission was in line with my own, which involves a commitment to public service.  Social Security, through the PMF program, provided an opportunity for me to enhance my skills and serve people in a variety of ways.  Be it through direct service in a local field office, or through policy writing or communications/outreach, SSA has been the place where I’ve learned how to connect learning with practice, while simultaneously working to increase the quality of life of the American public.”

"I've always had a passion and a dream to make a difference in the world; that's why I joined the U.S. Air Force when I was younger, and that's why the Social Security Administration quickly became my first choice when targeting a PMF position.  Working for SSA allows me to directly serve the American people and help others improve or sustain their livelihood.  Although saying "I work for the Social Security Administration" may not sound as distinctive as the titles granted by some other agencies, I firmly believe this is the best place to be a PMF and start a lifelong career in Federal Service.  A career with SSA can be as diverse and dynamic or as stable and routine as one could desire in government service; you could work in foreign posts around the world or find an office in your hometown - we're practically everywhere!  I had no idea what working for SSA involved until starting my job research as a PMF finalist, but I quickly realized that this is the place for me as I learned more about the mission and impact this agency makes."
